need help buying 87 GXL
ok I am looking at buying an 87 GXL, the only problem is, as the craigslist add says, "THE BAD: not currently driveable - reason is transmission is damaged. the driveshaft is disconnected under the car. the shifter tells the story, whether or not you push in the clutch, it gets stuck in 3rd or 4th, hard to get back out." This sounds to me like It could be a broken shifter fork roll pin thingy or the shifter interlock pin. any Ideas of other possible causes? Any and all info will be appreciated. In the attachment I have highlighted the two roll pins that I think could be causing the problem.

Your assumptions are possible. It's also possible the whole tranny is shot. They can be found relatively cheap in the classifieds. I've never paid over $150 for an n/a tranny.
If you want the car, don't let that stop you. It'd be a good chance to replace the clutch, the rear main seal on the engine, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, replace / rebuild the slave cylinder, and replace the rubber clutch hose with a braided steel one.
Post the CL link for some more advice.
