need help asap, getting the front control arm bushing out

okay so i finished gutting my car today, and after it all was done i figured i could start to remove my bushing on my front control arm. i have a set of poly bushings that i will be putting in my car in about 14 hours, so i need help BAD.

the bushing that i am trying to cut off is the front contol arm bushing that attached itself to the chassis. it looks like a D. i started to cut it with a razor blade, and it kinda felt that it wasnt going all the way to the bar that the new bushing is supposed to press onto. so i cut off a big chuck, and now i find that there is a sleeve there. so the smart people at mazda thought it would be a good idea to put a bushing, then a sleve of metal, then another bushing on the front control arm...

my question is, how the hell do i remove that frikken bushing? do i have to sawzaw it off? it isnt like a normal bushing that i can just press out, and i am way confused.

here is a picture of the bushign that i am talking about

yeah buddy!!!

those things are a pain in the ***. i speak from experience. i had to saw them off. its rubber on the outside and has a nice metal ring in the bushing. once you saw through the metal, it will be loose enough for you to pry off. DO NOT saw the arm itself. you'll know the metal peice i'm talking about. unless anyone else knows of a different way, thats all i got.

oh yeah... the bushings that replace those... be careful. i bought a "hyperflex" system for mine. those bushings did not fit properly. i had to shave about 1/4 off of the back to make it fit properly. you might have better luck than me. make sure, make sure you use the grease that they give, if you have to pry those off (poly bush) for any reason... its still not fun

Yeah, those bushings suck. I did them about a year ago. The only way I got them, was to shear off a good chunk of the outside rubber. Expose the entire length of the metal collar, and go at it with a dremel or other cutting tool. I actually got half way through with a wiz wheel and then switched to an air chisel and plowed right through it.

Torch it, took me like 10mins to get that bastard off once it starts fire it burns it self off, it also has 2 steel bushings on it aswell.

Just let it burn all the way around then pry it off. Makesure to have a hose ready, gloves are also highly recomended, maybe a resporator aswell.
