NEED HELP ASAP!!! Car wont start!!

Okay so I'm supposed to go on my 1500 road trip today to get back to school, and the car wont start now! The ignition doesn't even turn on. My dad's battery charger reads the battery at 100%, and my dad fixed the battery connections, they were frayed and dirty and weren't connecting good, and I tried it after that and it still doesn't work. What do I do? I'm going to autozone very soon and get them to check the battery for me incase my dad's battery charger isn't reading it right. If they say the battery is good, what could it possibly be? I have to leave by tonight, and I was scheduled to leave within an hour, now I know that isn't happening, but I need this fixed. Any help on what it could be would be much appreciated, thanks!

Well, how old is this battery?

The funny thing is that it might be at "100%" according to the meter, but it may not have the cold cranking amps anymore. Electricty is crazy like that.

I used to think a battery was just a battery. That is until I went through three craptastical Checker Exide 840's.

Now I spend the money and get quality batteries.

If they say the battery is good, what could it possibly be?

The "tech's", if that's what one we're to call them, at Autozone are by no means reliable.

I had a starter fiasco with Autozone. I watched them bench test it. And it turned out that the starter was still bad even when they said it was good.

Sounds like you need one anyway.

I dunno how old it is because I just bought the car a couple of weeks back. Cold cranking amps? Whats that? Alright, so I'll bring it in and prolly buy a new one, could any idea if it might be something else besides the battery?

Battaries can be rated for more current IE Amps at start up.

Picture this: You can take a 9 volt battery out of your walkman and stick it to your tounge. You could even take two 9 volt batteries and taste test them.

Now would you take wires from the terminals of your 12 volt car battery and stick that to your tounge?

I might, but you probably wouldn't.

There's a hidden thing that is called current which is messured in Amps.

So you can have situations where you have 12 volts but little amps. And Vise versa. Amps is what the starter needs to "crank" the engine over.

So I should bring the battery in to see what they say? Alright, thanks.

I edited while you we're replying so I'll just repost this excerpt:

As far as any other causes.

Could be a grounding issue. Like the ground to the starter is corroded or crappy.
