need help

how hard is it to start an rx7 without keys. i found one at a junk yard. they say they repo ed it and it runs. but no keys. what are my options. how hard is it to knock out the colum. or put my ingnition switch in and try it.

well, i don't know if u have access to one, but maybe try someone elses rx7 key. My friend parked his in front of mine and he wasn't around and i needed to move it, started pushing it till the wheel locked up, for the hell of it i tried my key, with a little jiggleing, it cranked right up =)

Check the wiring diagram at the ignition switch area in the FSM. You will see that you need to jumper the 12V line to the "IGN" signal, and jumper the 12V to the "START" connection to crank the car.

i am not good at wiring but, if i hook the ign and start together and put a 12 volt connection to them would theat work. where would i hook a ground.

If you have another switch, just unplug the existing switch that is in the car, and plug the new one in.

The only thing you need a key for is unlocking the steering wheel lock.

If you just want to start it, remove the pastic colum surround, snip the zip-tie holding "ignition switch" to the left side of the column, insert any garden variety slotted item into the swtich, and turn just like you would the key. Simple.

Its very easy to start these cars - getting the steering wheel unlocked is a different story.
