need electrical help

Okay so I picked up a 91 from a friend of mine and I am trying to get this bastard running. It keeps blowing the 100 amp main fuse the second the battery is connected. What the hell do I need to be looking for. Without completely tearing the car apart all the wiring looks good that I can tell, but I definitely haven't been able to check it all. Is there anything else it might be before I start tearing things up?

make sure the battery cables aren't reversed.

If it was, and it blew something up, it still might blow as soon as it is re-hooked up (even if it is correct now).

Remember the battery wires are easily confused, the front post (the one nearest to the headlight) is the negitive battery lead (black w/ yellow stripe) while the positive lead is the rear one (the one closest to the fuse box) and is a solid black wire from the factory.

the other things that are common if it blows right away; is the starter wires reversed or the alt has been replaced and the output terminal is resting against the intake.
