Need help with 10th AE tps adjustment
Hi all,
I've got a 10th ae I'm starting to work on and am having trouble adjusting the tps. My problem is that I can't find the connector for the test lamps. On my 90GXL it's obvious, but neither I nor my brother (he has an 86GTU) can find the damn thing. There is another connector attached to the mount for the pressure sensor, but it's a six slot connector with 4 of the slots wired. Is that it? Isn't the 10thAE simply an '99 TII?
The reason I'm trying to adjust the TPS is that it idles hard. Timing is good but stubles and when it does I hear a click/tap coming from the exhaust side of the engine. I'm trying to eliminate a poorly adjusted tps from the mix.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
-Mark

Don't waste your time with the test lamps. Use an Ohmmeter and adjust the TPS for 1K (after you have nicely warmed up the car). Warm up the car then shut it off. Disconnect the TPS and then use the meter to clip to the two clips in the plug where you DON"T get an infinite reading. Then adjust. May have to repeat several times after driving as the screw will settle.
This is the only successful method of adjusting the TPS that I have used. All others have just been a big time-waster.
