need an A/F gauge and O2 sensor

I'm looking around for an O2 sensor, A/F gauge and a gauge pod for two 52mm gauges that I can shove into my 87TII. I found the pod and gauge at summitracing, but the pod is backordered or something. I went to the Rx7store and the prices are higher on everything I found, plus the pod is listed as 88-91. As far as I knew the 87 and 88 shared the trim that the gauge would mount to. I can't even find a good O2 sensor. Where should I start looking? I can't find anything that seems like a trustworthy and reliable source, can anyone help?

what kind of gauge are you looking at getting from summit? I believe most will let you splice into the current o2 sensor wire at the ecu. I think the pods are the same, but check out www.rx7.com for pods specifically for the 86-88 cars.

why do you want an o2 sensor? is yours messed up?

you definetly need the 86-88 gauge pod from autometer.. or else it wont bolt on right... as for the air fuel ratio gauge.. you should be able to find that in any speed shop...the install is pretty simple.. and the accuracy isnt the best.. but if u have a TII and u need more fuel.. it will definetly let you know... just my 2 cents

I need the A/F so I can see how rich I am at idle and lean at full boost (cause I can almost garauntee that's what it's gonna show). Right now I have an el-cheapo O2 sensor I paid $18 for. I don't trust it at all. So I wanted a new O2 sensor and gauge, then i need a pod to put it in. figured the 86-88 were identical, but I might've put too much faith in whoever claims that pod was for the 88 model but not the 86-87. Thanks guys

Try searching for the Greddy Unit. It looks good but I don't have any expreience to back that. It claims it uses a different type of sensor.

The Greddy O2 unit is a little more accurate, but just about any o2 sensor is going to give you the same reading. Even the 4 wire Haltech O2 sensors are not that incredibly accurate when it comes to determining your A/F ratio. You need a Wideband (expensive) in order to be accurate.

The A/F gauges are more of a guideline, I would not use them for tuning if i were you.

A Better choice would be an EGT gauge, as it allows you to see your exhaust gas temp reading. A hotter temperature means a leaner mixture, and a cooler temp means a rich mixture. A good temp to shoot for on wide open throttle is about 760 degrees Celsius, or 1400 degrees farenheight.

You can order just about any gauge pod for the 2nd gen, because only one exists, reguardless of what anyone else says. it fits the 86-88 like a glove, and needs to be modified a small amount to work with the 89-91 cars because of the automatic seatbelts.

If you arent going to be doing any major tuning just go to your local parts store and pick up a Bosch O2 sensor, they are like $35, and they are just as good as the OEM ones, just my $.02.

I already have a Bosche in it. That's the one I got for $18. I don't want an EGT gauge becuase of the reaction time.
