S4 is the 86 to 88 model
S5 is the 89 to 91 model

The S5's have more power, some improvements, body color trim, different front end and circular taillights, among other things.

GXL is the "luxury" model. Better wheels (pizza slicers), more options like sunroof, power windows and adjustable suspension. More weight too. GTU is the 87-88 sporty model, like a turbo with no turbo. In 89+ the GTU became the base model. The GTUs is a rare 89-90 car that was basically a Turbo II without the turbo, and less weight.

NA = Naturally Aspirated or Normally Aspirated (Same thing)
NT = Non-Turbo (The Mazda designation for NA)
NA Turbo = Slang for adding a turbo to a non-turbo engine

86-92 RX-7 Models:
SE, GX, GXL, LX, GTU, GTUs, Base, Sport, Turbo II (aka TII), Convertible (aka Vert), 10th Anniversary (aka 10AE)

FC = 2nd Generation RX-7 (aka 2Gen)
S4 = Series 4 = 86-88 years of the FC (rectangular tail lights, small front vents, etc.)
S5 = Series 5 = 89-92 years of the FC (round tail lights, big front vents, etc.)
