Need Dash repair tip

I swapped dashes over the weekend. Easier than I would have thought it to be. Anyway the upper plastic peice that you screw the top 3 screws of the cluster bezel are busted. I was thinking I might just lay in some fiber glass and build it back up, so that I can screw the bezel in place. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it?

I have used small sections of radio backstrap when repairing/replacing broken tabs, but I would think properly mixed and surface preped, that fiberglass (polyester resins) would work fine.

Here is what I did for the lower tabs.
It's a piece of thick vinyl plastic..

Thanks for the input Mark. I will get at it this weekend time permitting. Still gotta yank a tranny and motor out of an 88.
