Need alternator pics *also no tach*

Ok guys I'm not normally a 2nd gen poster but I'm working on my friends 88. He didn't listen to me about the pulsation damper and so *fire*. Anyway I did a carb swap for him, pulled all the emissions garbage, as well as adding a new 1st gen dizzy and coil pack to at least run the leading, chopped the harness that melted to hell and now SHE LIVES. Well almost, we had the exhaust done to remove the cat and all the emissions feedback garbage and when we were in the process of that we noticed the alternator wasn't charging the battery.

So what I'm looking for are pics of the 2 wires leading to the back of the alternator. I'm mostly trying to verify that the 2nd gen uses the same as the 1st gen with the W/b B/w wiring on that 2 pin connector.
Also he no longer has a tach so if anyone has any ideas that might help with that then feel free to throw them out there.

Much thanks in advance.

Thanks for that, and the diagram. I've got 3 wires that it can be and only 1 of them is the W/b so I get to play hit/miss with the B/w which I have 2 options of.

The B/W wire comes from the 15 amp Engine fuse (interior fusebox). This fuse supplies power w/key to on an start. This B/W wire also runs to the Main Relay and Circuit Opening Relay and a component on autos. And this is for an S4 alternator as S5's differ w/respect to the B/W wire.

Cool, I think I found 2 B/w wires that will work on the main harness remnants. Could be either but from the way it looks, both should work. As for the W/b wire it's giving off 11v and from the diagram it says it should be 1v with just the ignition at on. So from what I can tell I should just need to break my neck and get up under the dash with a multimeter, unless another idea pops out of yall for that. But just to verify I should be able to run a wire directly from the 15amp fuse on the fuse box to the alternator for the ignition right.

The W/B wire measures close to 2 volts or so w/key to on and the wire connected to the alternator otherwise it would have close to 12 volts w/key to on and not connected to the alternator.

Not all B/W wires will work just because it is colored B/W. The 15 amp Engine fuse gets power w/key to on and w/key to start. Some wires get voltage w/key to on but not key to start. You could use this fuse to run a wire to the alternator if need be.

Perfect, I wound up getting proper measurements off the harness and now she runs right as rain. Thanks for all the help.
