Need advise & few answers befor I call on '90 vert

I just found a '90 manual vert road side. Has 49,000 with "3,000 on rebuilt engine." White/Black with pristine body, not a single ding, dent. or blemish. Paint looks original or possibly new. Top looks brand new. Could only see four of those minor (barely visable) windhiled rock dings. Appears to have 2 new FTP lenses and one new front turn signal lense. Wants $5,100.

Wheel wells look new, not a speck of rust, road salt, or debris dents. Undercarrage looks new, even the undercoat looks unblemished.

Interior is immaculate with some wear on the door side inside edge of the leather seat and floor mats. Floor mats I have never seen. RX7 goes horizontal across the center rather than on the door edge as my last 2 '90's (hard top) have.

Now my questions:

1. What is the noise level in the vert with the top up? Tolerable??

2. There are two side stipes. One thin black and on thin red. Am I correct that the two tone stripe indicates a paint job cuz Mazda only used black stripping?

3. Why would someone replace only 3 of the front lenses? Why not all four. Collision coverage maybe?

4. Does the vert command a 5,100 premium? I was thinking in the 4.2 K to 4.4 K range and that may be high.

5. I am willing to bet the 3K rebuild was unnecessary. A unknowing owner had it diagnosed by an even more unkowing mechanic/dealer and all it was was a sever flood and the companion loss of compresion. I can't imaging a cared for 7 blowing an engine at 43k. Your thoughts?

6. What were the stock wheels on the vert? These are sorta open, can see clearly into the rotors. My GXL has stock and not slotted as such.

here is a pic of my vert... i bought it for $4k... as you said about yours mine is also mint condition with one minor exeption.. the back window on the top leaks..... the material around that window shrinks with age and allows water to leak in... its a pain in the *** to clean up but it could be an easy fix i just havent had time to do it.
1. the noise level with the top UP is next to nothing (cept for exhaust noise lol loud in any rx7) and the top down is AWESOME the drivers side hardly catches any bad drafts when im going 70mph plus how ever the passenger side is a tad windy
2. mine has 2 black pinstriping on it but mine has been repainted though so cant help ya there
3. i work at a body shop and can assume that some places replace all lenses of what they repair or just the ones actually broken.. we just do whats broken so it could have been wrecked... look at the framing under some of the stuff in the engine bay and you can def tell if body work has been done on it
4. dont know what a 90 vert runs these days but as i said i paid 4k for mine and its an 88 a while back.... mine was too good to pass up and im in a small town so they are RARE as hell
5. ya a rebuild was prolly not neccessary but sometimes **** happens at low mileage... one bad oil change or no coolant is all it takes
6. ya my wheels are stock for an s4 conv and thought the s5 was the same... they are the lightweight ones worth a lot more money than the other ones on other rx7's

good luck with the buy.. hope you can talk him down or if you like it enough get it pic below

Just went to meet with the owner and drive it a bit. One muffler may be on the way out, slight steering wheel vibration when ideling (motor mount(s)?), very peppy and suspect compressiion is OK. Idle is high at 1500 but suspect the mechanic who works on it does not know how to set TPS.. sound reasonable? I know the shop but would never take mine there. This is the same place that had him rebuild when what he described to me was a simple flooding. Owner claimed that he was not successful trying the ATF trick the last time. Thus, the re-build.

Claims rotor was a re-built from Washington state.. who rebuilds in Washington?

Car was indeed painted due to 2 relatively minor fender benders. No sign of twisted frame or front end bends. Minor short in fade switch and head rest volume control.
Nearly new Yoko rubbers.

Dude has faith in Kelly Blue Book which is notiously high on the 7. Edmonds and NADA are more reasonable.

OK good people, opinions.. would you make an offer if you had the cash?

Hayes Rotary is a notorious Washington state rebuilder. Do a search on Hayes; several guys here have had very bad experiences with them in the last couple years. They seemed more reputable a few years ago (mine is from Y2K and still running great). On the plus side, if it is a Hayes, it should still be under their basic one year/12K warranty.

if the car is in mint body and interior i would pay about 4300$ give or take a hundred... cause mufflers are $$$ and motor mounts are a pain in the *** to change plus slightly $$$. just my .02 cents, hope you can talk him down... btw i would only use NADA cause thats all buisnesses use (banks in general)
