Okay I know that the vacuum hoses in the 3rd gens gets brittle after a while and they have a lot of them. What about the 2nd gens? How much vacuum lines do they have compared to the 3rd gen? For reliability, I'm thinking of getting silicone hoses to replace the stock ones.

Nowhere near as many, but they get just as brittle. Secure them with small zipties while you're in there.

All vacuum lines get brittle after 15+ years.

thanks, and I'm just wondering, will 18" rims fit on the s5? The one I'm looking at is the Koblenz by Falken.

if you dont touch them, they wont break that easily, but when you start to work on the engine, either chage the hoses of if emissions are no problem, get rid of the rats nest...
