NA tranny bolted to a TII block?
Basically, I'm wondering what the differences between the NA and TII trannies are. I'm looking at buying a TII block and would like to bolt my NA tranny to it. (TII conversion without all the TII goodies).
If this could work easily, I think it would save me the trouble of trying to hunt down the TII tranny, TII driveshaft, TII rear, etc. etc.
Things I noticed after doing parts searches: The pilot bearing is the same, so no trouble there with the input shaft. Looks like the S4 NA flywheel would work as well because the counterweights are supposed to be the same.
So basically, I can't figure out any reason why the NA tranny wouldn't bolt right up with ZERO problems.

You gotta be kidding me. I can understand the need to cast differently for oil and coolant passages for the turbo and what not. But a completely different bolt pattern for the 2 trannies? Dammit...

that's not entirely true, the counterweights are different between the series S4 & S5/6. The counterweight is matched to the engine, the flywheel is matched to the tranny. TII VS are different diameters.

Yea, but the S4 TII counterweight and S4 NA counterweight are the exact same part. So using an S4 NA flywheel or S4 TII flywheel will still work with the front counterweight.
I was talking about bolting an S4 NA tranny to TII block using S4 NA flywheel... as for slippage and what not.. i've already got a 6 puck to handle that.
