When I had my 91 NA it never had any problem except for the windshield wipers only worked on fast and not the best gas mileage. All you have to do is pretty much keep up with maintenance and make sure your car is warmed up before beating on it. That should be for any car though but our cars need a little more attention.

all those things apply to rx7s in general. They are not specific to NA or turbo.
Sorry you have had such back luck peruvianrx7 but not everyone else can share your pain.

Rx7's properly maintained and not abused are basically bullet proof. My NA 'vert needs more power and could get better gas mileage but I expect to be driving and enjoying it for many more years. Don't forget how little you paid for it up front when you consider the average Malibu costs $19k today and doesn't give that poor bastard anywhere near the enjoyment you get out of your car!

I just turned 100K on my 87 N/A and it runs like a champ. I am a fanatic when it comes to maintenance and I think that it helps. The little gremlins that get other RX7's have bitten mine too (wiper switch/logicon/horn module/etc), but the engine has been great. I don't drive mine often and hope that with regular maintenance that I can get another 100K out of it. If not, Rotary Resurrection does an inexpensive rebuild that I am going to take advantage of!
If I were to buy another N/A, I would take my time and find something that had been taken care of--even if it cost a few hundred bucks more.

My na was really dependable when I first bought it. Now that it is running again it has been the same sweet car that it always was, over this past week of driving.
It really is all about the care and maintenance when it comes to FC reliability. Sure, a main relay might die on you like what happened on the other thread, but this can happen to any 15 year old car. In fact, it just happened to my 88 Integra, same exact problem, everything dead when ignition is turned to 'on' despite a fully charged battery. Can't even roll up the windows or turn on the stereo: yep, sounds like the main relay to me. Stuff like that just goes sometimes and is not specific to any car brand or model, more like age and climate (humid or dry).
Just get an FC if that is what you want. Find one that runs really well and was cared for by a previous owner that knew how to maintain it. End of story.
*edit* just thought that I'd add that mine has 129K miles on the od.
