na rx7 doesnt start, no fuel...what could it be?
mods, ive posted a previous thread asking about my airfow meter, please delete it
i have a 87 Rx-7 GXL model, everything is stock
when i go to start the car, it turns over but doesnt start, i took off the fuel line, and cranked it but nothing came out which makes me think its a fuel problem
im pretty sure i have spark, just no fuel
someone told me that the fuel pump wont kick on without the airflow meters signal?
im not really sure what to do here because its my first rotary. any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

The fuel pump WILL work anytime the key is HELD to START. Key word....HELD.
The fuel pump will work if the key is to ON and the fuel pump check connector is jumpered.
The fuel pump will work if the engine is running.
The fuel pump will work if the key is to ON and the vane in the AFM is pushed back at least a 1/18 to 1/4 inch or MORE.
Turn the key to ON. Jumper the fuel pump check connector. When you jumpered it you should have heard a click of a relay. OR key to ON and push the vane in the afm aft. You should have heard a click of a relay. Your doing the same thing in both procedures........putting a gnd on the Circuit Opening Relay.
Circuit Opening Relay won't work unless the ENGINE fuse is good. Same with the above conditions.

go buy a circut tester, olhm meter, and run through any elctrical componet you think isnt working, fuel pump included,
dont think you have spark, know you do, its very easy to check that, look at plugs, and check the fuel pump ground. and hook up a batt. tester to check if your CCA are high enough

Are you sure you are not flooded? Do you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the ignition on? When was the last time the Fuel Filter was changed?
ok HAILERS,
so what your saying is that i need to just try and start the car, by pushing back the afm vane/ (jumpering ??)
what is jumpering exactly completing the cuircuit on the fuse/relay?
also what is this about engine fuse, if that is bad, car wont start correct?

Jumpering is connecting 2 connectors that are not normally connected. There is IIRC a lonely yellow connector near one of the shock towers that you jump, turn the key to "ON" and should then have a running fuel pump.
