I have a 90 n/a and have a n350 in the car right now and wanted to know if sticking a n351 is okay with me being in CA? from everything I checked its cool yet when it comes to this not to familiar as of yet. If also replaced is there a relearn procedure for this?

That was a good one... HAHA, I'm just bitter thats all, had a bad day. Just looking for some information from someone other than what seats I want to put in my car LOL...

okay so I searched some more and have concluded that the 351 is Federal emissions and 350 is CA emissions. Now the question is will this affect my smog efforts??
-will it mess with any of my emissions components??
-the 351 is coming yet I still am curious to prepare to get a 350??
remember that us in CA have the most f'd up restrictions here so what it be eh!

After swapping the N350 (89-91 NA California Coupe) with the appropriate N353 (89-91 Convertible Federal) it seems to have really cut down on the amount of fumes. It seems to be at a tolerable level and hopefully is not as dangerous to my health. For all that say they are interchangeable...yes it runs, but they are different for a reason.

okay, I'm resurrecting this thread.....

I've gutted my car, and I'm rebuilding it for the most part from the chassis up... However, between my parts car and this one, I have two ECU's... a 351 (Federal S5 Coupe) and a 350 (California S5 Coupe). The car in question was running the 350 because it was originally purchased in california.. but, I currently live in OR with no emissions and obviously the california crap doesn't really apply to me. So, what power gains would there be on the 351 vs the 350 if any? What are the differences? Why would I want one over the other? Typically strict emissions means de-tuning a car, so in my mind, it makes sense to go with the 351. But, I am unclear if there will be different sensors or what not.

Anyways... 350 or 351, set me straight!
