N338, no fuel cut

Well, I have just over 500 miles on the new TII motor and decided to see if this N338 vert ECU indeed has a fuel cut code as rumored.

I was able to make .7 bar (10.29 lbs) of boost in 3rd gear when I decided to let off the car (5.5K) since the motor is new and I've only got a re-wired walbro for fue. At no point did I hit fuel cut, what gives? Maybe the "turbo mode" rumored to be part of an N338 ECU doesn't exist. Has anyone ever HIT fuel cut on an N338 ECU w/ a TII pressure sensor??

Anyway, the car felt great and made a lots of power but I'm referring back to break in rules for the next 500 miles, even though this rebuilt motor has never had any hard-starting due to low compression.

I did a 4th gear test last week, and on my stock N370, the boost had to stay high for a few seconds before it cut fuel.
It seemed like maybe 5 seconds.

Hmmm, it shouldn't take that long at all. As far as I know, once he ECU interprets 8.6 psi it should cut out instantly. It could be a bad pressure sensor issue. I'm going to the shop this week for my 500 miles oil change/checkup. I'll have them go over the pressure sensor and TPS. What I DID have an issue with was break-up around 3800 RPM under light load. Sometimes it would break up right there, sometimes it wouldn't. I have a feeling it's either wiring to the secondaries, or a TPS issue. Usually it only happened in first gear, but I've only been above 4K a few times since I got the car back. Today was the first time I've boosted the car, no more until I figure it out. It feels like ignition break-up and not the typical 3800 rpm hesitation which, In my last NA motor, felt like a dip in the power band (loss of power) at 3800.

Should you be hitting 5.5k so soon into the rebuild?

500 miles under 4k (which I did) then over the next 500 you can go up another 100 rpm for each 100 miles you go. The motor doesn't have new bearings which is really the issue for rev limits during break-in as I see it.

The key (in my eyes) for the break-in period is dependent on load. You don't want to put a lot of load on the motor during the break-in period which basically means low throttle input and no boost. Compression is really the issue for break-in and you want the seals to seat nicely for good compression. I didn't have a problem with building that much boost once during the break-in period since my motor seems really tight. I've never had any issues with hard starting or idle quality which is indicative of low compression

Back to break-in rules for me though, especially until I figure out the break-up when the secondaries come on.

Well, the 500 mile oil change/checkup went just fine. I had a small oil leak from an OMP line that seperated so we took off the UIM and ran a couple of new lines secured w/ a couple of zip ties. The oil came out very very clean, still golden brown, no dirt etc... TPS was also checked and was spot on. I do have a TII ECU coming that will get sent to rtek7 for his V1.5 pretty soon so this N338 can come out since I'm no longer confident in the "turbo map" rumors. No more boost/load at all until that ECU is in - the only reason I'd boosted so early that day was bc the motor seemed so tight w/ great starting and driveability that I wanted to see about that ECU. I'll change the oil after another 500 as well...
