Question N/A turbo vs TII

Alright heres a question I have that I wasnt able to find the answer to.

I have a budget of about 5k$ and a garage w/tools and a good knoledge of engines (mostly on older v8's).

I have an 89 N/A that is working. The engine has some problems, probably needs a rebuild as the gaskets are all on their way out except the intake manifold gaskets which I changed 3000 miles ago. As I understand the N/A model has 4 intake and 2 exhaust ports while a TII model has 2 intake and 2 exhaust. Could I get a better power gain out of my current engine with the N/A housings housing lower compression rotors If the NA engine was ported and had a turbo on it vs. a TII engine ported with a turbo? I would like to end up at at least 250 WHP > Preferally closer to 320.

In both situations a new trans and driveline going in as well as new fuel system and fuel management regardless of either option I would take.

Input is most appreciated as estimated taxes didnt bite me that bad

actually the N/A's (13b, not 12a's) have 6 intake ports.....TII motors have 4 intake ports.

Anyways....I would think you COULD in theory get more power with the 6 port housings.....however the intake stream is of variable design which is not exactly ideal for a forced induction setup.......hence the fixed 4 port housings used in the TII

I say if you are up for some possible extreme fab and experimentation go for the 6 port housing route..........if you want 320whp and don't really want to get to deeply involved design wise.......slap a nice turbo on TII motor with bridged secondaires and adequate fuel - zoom zoom

never mind I could have read back 5 posts and gotten a simmilar answer. Only reason I said TII rotors was theoretically less chance of blowing them at a higher boost.

Thanks for the input. This is a project so some experimenting can be done. and thanks for the clarification on the 4 vs 6 intake ports
