N/A to Turbo hood interchangable ?

Im replacing my hood with a brand new one, and i'd like to get the Turbo hood just for looks. Now are the hoods an exact copy just different styling ? i mean no adjustments to be done to switch the two ? I'd be getting the '87 Turbo hood hopefully the aluminium one, switching with my '87 N/A hood.

Thanks

both hoods are the same....i believe that there might have been some steel t2 hoods not sure.....only problem with your conversion may be water entering the intercooler scoop and running on ur alternator. may want to fabricate some kind of shield

well, i'll say that the hood is COMPLETELY interchangeable, just take the old one off, put the new one on. simple as that. as far as the water, well lets just say i've driven in some friggin hurricanes and it's running just fine. the scoop takes the air (and water) all the way past the intake manifold, so maybe some of that stuff gets wet, but i don't know, i've never popped the hood after driving in the rain. i'll do so for you if you want me to, no sweat

i think only a few of the 87-88 T2 hoods are steel, and most 87-88 T2 hoods are aluminum, and all 89+ are aluminum

Yo,

Actually, the TII hood will NOT fit on an NA...so don't try.

They beefed up the hinges on the TII because of the TMIC scoop's extra aerodynamic drag. If you put it on an NA, the NA hinges will buckle at speed...possibly causing the hood to move backwards an inch, unlatching, and flying up smashing your windshield and roof.

Again, do NOT put TII hoods on NA's.

It could be a deadly combination.

you're also forgetting that the aluminum hoods have different latches, and the hood hinges are different to resist galvanic corrosion

So in other words, use hood pins, right? I knew there was a reason I bought those for my turbo 'vert, and it wasn't rice, either.

still need the proper latch so you don't end up destroying it. :p just leave it alone. The N/a don't need the hood.

Oh please, give me a break! The T2 hood on my N/A has been on over ten years, and believe me, in gail force winds plus as fast as I drive, it would've come off a long time ago, if some of this b/s is true, cuz I know it can't be good luck holding it on!

Yo,

No, I'm serious! Really! Don't put TII hoods on NA's.

If you've played Need for Speed: Underground, you know how important your Reputation or "Rep" is on the streets.

You need "Street Cred" out there. If you put a TII hood on an NA you do double damage to the /real/ TII's "Rep" and "Street Cred".

TII hoods: a hood is a terrible thing to waste.

you'll be sorry in 500years when the hood corrodes away!

seriously why did they worry about that, instead of like the interior?

If you are really concerned about the corrosion, get some of that rubber insulation spray in a can by bondo and spray the hinges and screws with it prior to mounting it.

Changing out the NA's hood latch springs with a turbo's hood latch springs will also allow the lighter hood to close easier on your NA.

That's right, if you put a TII hood on an N/A it'll end up like this...

ya, i put a tii hood on my n/a and you'll never believe it. i was driving so fast, that the wind ripped the hood off, the hood came right through the firewall and windshield and cut me clean in half. hurt like hell. people die driving n/a rx7s with tii hoods every day. don't you read the paper?
