n/a guys, in search of just a little bit more air flow
For the last couple weeks i've been thinking about porting the little black elbo, right before the TB. It also gave me an excuse to go out and by a die grinder. But anyways, you would'nt beleive how much material you can remove from in there. To be honest though, i advanced the timeing of the car at the same time. So i guess i'll never know just how much more power, if anything it gave me. But if it helps air flow, just a little bit more...then its worth it.
Would someone else port there's and tell me if they noticed anything? Later, CJ

I know this is like splitting hairs, but today i removed the clear plastic lense on the front nose cone. So i can get more cool air into the engine compartment. I also took my die grinder, and removed all of the excess threads on the screws that hold the butterflys onto the shaft in the throttle body. Still did'nt notice to much power difference.
I guess i'm just trying to find little things to remove in the intake system. Even in the end, if its worth 3-5hp i think it'll be worth it.

I did that...I didnt feel any gain, but every little bit helps. Go check out the thread about porting the intake manifold. That should interest you now that you have a die grinder.
Heres another cheap hp thing...Like the elbow thing, the gains were pretty much unnoticable, but my car was a little smoother, and the low end felt a little morepowerful. Cut the crush washer off your spark plugs. It moves the spark closer to the chamber, and raises the compression a very little bit. This is a tried and true trick for small engines, and one of my friends suggested we try it on my car, since my spark plugs need replacing soon anyways.

It is possible to have your spark plugs in too far and make contact with the rotor itself. I also recall pictures of a wankel that met a quick demise at the hands of cranked in sparkplugs.
If it works it works but by golly be careful!

I have an engine taken apart in my garage, and I checked the clearances on the rotor housing before I tried it on mt car. There is plenty of room. The spark plug is still about 1 mm from the inner edge of the housing where it might start causing trouble.
