my wobbly windows
ok, my passenger side window gets stuck every time it goes up now im sure i can fix that with some new screws and screw caps for the glass, but while im in there id like to fix a chronic problem that bugs the crap out of me.
my windows like all other fc's ive seen wobble they have 3/4 to an inch of play in and out (interior to exterior) it doesnt really effect anything, but it bothers me; it looks cheap i guess. so what could we do to give them a more sturdy feel like most newer cars, or the better question, what causes it in the first place?
thanks guys

It's just the shape of the windowand how it indexes with the seals. When the window is 3/4 way up it is only supported by the regulator and the seal at the bottom of the window sill. The reason other car windows are sturdier looking is because they have good support from the side seals/runners during their entire travel.

I'll offer my two cents on this one. I think your window has been removed at some point and the reinstallation process messed up the tracks.
My 88 GTU (manual windows) never had any "wobbly window" problems until somebody broke into it and I had to replace the glass. When you change the glass, it's really hard to get it in perfectly aligned without having the slightly manhandle it. Well that process of getting it into position bends the window tracks.
After I installed replacement glass (from a parts car, it was OEM stuff) I noticed the few spots where I had messed up the tracks slightly--especially in the middle of the tracks where I had been trying to get the glass into position. So now when I crank the window up, as the window gets about halfway up it goes over the tracks that I messed up slightly when I was installing the window, and it wobbles. It only wobbles in the middle of track though, not near the top or the bottom.
On the other hand, my T2 has a really wobbly driver side window but the passenger side has much less of a problem. I suspect the driver side was broken into and whoever replaced it took less care with the window than I had done on my nonturbo.
The only way to fix this would be to buy a new window track/regulator/motor assembly (they come as one unit) for something like $300 from Mazdatrix. And then you have to hope you can get it (and the glass) installed without messing it up.

my driver's side window actually tilts forward, making it screw up the seal at the top toward the back and doesn't close completely at the front... I'm trying to get a different door altogether though so I'm not messing with it for now.
the window tracks: could you bend them back to how they should be?
