Arrow My weird self-adjusting idle

OK my car has an annoying reoccouring problem that pops up now and then and causes a surging idle. I thinks its my tps or maybe a vac leak but thats not the issue im here to discuss. When im driving and the car if fully warmed up it will randomly decide where to idle.

For example I may drive 4 or 5 block stop at a light and idle at 950. Then if I drive another 4 or 5 block ill stop and itll idle at 1400. Next time I stop it mayb be 1100. In all instances the idle steady and will not drop or raise if I tap the gas ect.

Its not really a problem as much as a curiousity. Could this also be related to my possibly shot tps sensor?

While were at it is there any way to test a tps sensor while its not installed on the car?

I have the same problem, but when I blip the throttle, it'll settle at the correct idle. Curious........
