my turbo n/a is almost done
Today I bloted on my manifold and spacer and the turbo, taped in a oil line on the cooler and made a return into the oil pan put it back on but then I ran out of time. hopefully I can get more done tomorrow and I will also post a few pics. Does anybody know of a good spot to run my boost gauge line in the firewall or should I just make my own spot.

Yes I do have a pilar mount gauge pod. thanks for the tip. I still need to finish my exaust and intake. I am also going to remove all power steering and a/c heater core and all climate control. I would like any tips on other ways to drop weight if you have some pointers. I couldent upload any pics it said they were large I will see if I can do something else.

But to answer your question, there are about 10 rubber grommits on the firewall. Take your pick. I like to bring the line in at the grommit that seals the engine harness.

There are so many of these threads all the time where people say they're almost done, or they're planning it, or they're going to do it soon, and then it kinda just fades away and you don't hear anymore about it. Is it because everyone just gives up or what? People also never post pictures hardly, but that's not that big of a deal. Planning a turbo project is easy, doing it is the hard part. **** I've had mine planned out for almost a year and have like a good chunk of the parts, I just need a whole lot more to do it "right" in my mind.

7well at least he's got the project started. I've been planning it since i got the car but keep running into financial setback casued by my 7 lol, at least i'll have everything expensive out of the way and will be able to begin saving for the turbop project again soon. Good luck with the project cmjaure, but try not to ask simple questions like where to run a line through the firewall, you'll make people think you've gotten your self in over your head, i hope you haven't

Well I am also "planning" it. But i am far far away financially from ti actually happening. However I also question the abilities of a person who cant put a wire throuhg a firewall, while they claim theyre turbocharging an engine. I Only even mentioned I was doing it because i would liek to see some pics, or a right up. I read arron cakes writeupand it was great but more info can never hurt.

I'm working on this conversion too, but I'm building in on a spare block (well, the spare block I'm getting next week or so.)
It's amazing how many odds-and-ends there are to this conversion, just way too many little parts to remember. I'm going with the stock turbo intake system, so that complicates it a bit. I still need about half the turbo parts, none the least of which is the turbo itself.
I'll take pictures of the process as I start assembling, which will be about another month.

everyone says you can'tturbo an N/A but you can, Aaron did it and did a damn good job with the write up on it, i'd attempt it if i had the money, but it's a pretty expensive mod, as well as a kind of a big gamble especially if oyu only think you know what your doing. It'd be fun to build though on a second car or spare motor if i ever get either It'd also be great if someone could finally do a supercharger right, no offense to the camden kit but there could be better . . . but yeah i'm waiting to see Aaron's car running again (unless it is . . ?)

I also did the turbo-N/A thing.
Mine was running great at only 5psi even! until the wastegate line popped off that is...
Something else I can tell you, it used to pull a damm sight harder at that 5psi of boost then my current J-spec engine does at 7-8psi of boost.
Food for thought..
I'm still in the process of rebuilding that engine..

ok I know the boost line was a stupied question but I had some problems finding spots on the right side of the firewall when I was wireing my nitrous. And was just looking for a tip on other things to do. Aaron your right it is more like 20% but after the past 6 or 7 months it is a lot of progress.

My original turbo install, now three years ago, worked great. I drove the car all summer and beat the **** out of it. That winter, I decided that I wanted a little more, which I am still working on...If you take a look at my engine build thread in the archives, you can step backwards through each thread of the project and see what I'm currently doing...I may even post some pictures of the next step in a week or so...

are you going to try to use nitrous and a turbon on a stock 6 port with stock ecu and drivetrain? I hope not, you'll at least need a good clutch to handle the power of the turbo and i still wouldn't recoment launching it hard on NA drivetrain and i have a freeling nitrous would be very mean to the drivetrain on top of it. you may want to swap a tii drivetrain if you haven't and really should consider a standalone

I might run a 30 shot of nitrous so it is not that much after the turbo is complete right now I am running 75. After the turbo I will only run around 8 psi . I am getting a patrs car on friday with a s/5 n/a tranny if that makes a differnce fron the s/4 but I got a good deal on it. I will be getting a racing clutch the end of march if everything works out ok.

I am still working on the turbo inlet to mas. there is hardly any roon there I am probly going to build it out of 3" exaust pipe and next saturday I will finish my exaust (thinking about 2.5" all the way back no cat or mufflers but not sure yet) if the weathers good. Then I will start working on the intercooler piping and bov.

well thats not something I am too proud of. a friend of mine bought the kit off of ebay and heard it was crap so I bought it from him for 200 dollars it came with turbo mani. wastegate and bov. just thought I would try it because i got it so cheep. I can always upgrade it later on if it sucks.
