Sorry for not posting anymore pics guys. I've been pretty sick the last two days. However, i did manage to drive up to Pineapple Racing, and ask him his thoughts on my porting.

He thought that porting that had been done would be probably good for about 10hp. He also pointed out some places that could use some more work. However, he said the real restriction was in the lower manifold. So...tomorow, feeling better than i have in the last two days, i'm going to go out and finish up with porting and pictures on the TB, upper, and middle intake. Hopefully i'll have something for you guys tomorow, or Sunday.

Hey adam, about your pic up there ^ with what you took out of the ext manifold, where it goes into the lower... What exactly did you do to the lower? Besides making it the same shape of course I guess what im asking is for you to post a similar pic of the lower intake with what you cut out there... Im just curious how that does anything, unless you kept the runner that big all the way through the lower intake...

Blake, nice lookin' rig! Looks like I'm not the only one that likes waxing his GTUs. *grin* Are those Jspec FTP's? If not, I've got some advice for bringing back oxidized FTP's back to life. Novus #2 Fine Scratch Remover, you can find it at Tap Plastics, or any plastic specific store. It's like a fine polish, works wonders for all plastic parts. I used it on my front signals, FTPs, 3rd brake light, and reverse lights. Makes cloudy plastic crystal clear again. Just an FYI. *grin*

You just blend it into the runners. You cant make the part of the lower manifold much bigger due to the engine block ports, but you can blebnd it until it narrows down evenly down to that. Ill try to get some pics of my porting up soon.

Thanks. No, those are stock FTPs, but they are not oxidized; that's just normal condesation. I got fed up with it so I did this:

'Cause I just had mine out, and it sure didn't look like that!!! *grin* Oh, and do you need to move that metal headlight relay thingy that's on the back of the right headlight to get the cold air back there? You notice any kind of difference?

Yeah, I just cut out the front and back lens of the stock FTP, then used bondo to shape it into what you see in the picture. Sanded, primed and painted it with the Duplicolor touchup spray paint and clear coat. Turned out pretty good, IMnsHO Cold air goes over the headlight and into my custom cold air box. Can't say for sure if it helps that much -- this isn't measureable on the chassis dyno due to the lack of ram air while sitting still. I don't trust my (or any) butt dyno. Well today at my parents house, i put on the new middle and upper intake. All i can say is the power gain was way more than i ever expected. I was thinking that there would be a minimal differance....5-10, at the most. I shure was wrong. More like, atleast 10hp, if not 15hp. If my motor wasn't making 200hp (flywheel) it should be now.

I did'nt put the TB on that i modded, because, i did'nt have time to finish it up the way i wanted to. Not to mention, it probably would intail a TPS adjustment. So that will have to wait for anouther day.

I don't know how much power you would gain on a stock engine, but on a ported engine like mine, it shure made a difference.

I should have some pics of my finished middle, upper and TB tomorow. However, the upper intake was realy hard to take any good pictures of. So, you'll just have to make due with what i give you.

If anyone is interested, i was thinking about porting the stock middle, and upper intake that came off the car, then selling it. It would'nt be ported perfect, or anything. Like i said, i could'nt garentee a certain hp amount, but it would be better than stock.

Also wanted to let you guys know, that i'm still seeing 2 green bars, and one yellow bar under full throttle. I'm using cleaned stock n/a injectors, and a T2 fuel pump. Later, CJ

Heres is what I was talking about above. I cant find my pics, so I just colored one of yours red in the part that I gook out of mine. I did this to my manifold, and the gains were very impressive.

I am in the middle (towards the end really ) or Porting. You attached a pic. on this thread with your porting advice highlighted in RED. I am not sure what advantage the egg shap is going to give as far as allowing more air to pass at that point. It seems to me that leaving the circle shape (made bigger) cutting the corner smoother and removing some of the "bump" where the injector fits would be a pretty large improvement over stock. At this point in the intake(at the very end) it just seems like overkill to do the egg shaping. Anyway, I am not slamming the idea, I just want to understand more before I do it!!

I was told by Rob@Pineapple not to do it that way. He said that you wanted to speed up the air flow past the injector. Smoothing it out was good, but don't do anything wild. BTW, with this porting I made 167rwhp on a dyno jet, or about 180ish rwhp on a dynojet.

BTW, back from the dead. And thanks for doing a search, before posted anouther thread about porting the intake manifold. CJ

Ok, it makes sense to me that what I did/am doing is enough. 167rwhp sounds pretty nice. Do you have numbers as to what you had before the intake porting? Did you do the TB mod/port (I am thinking I will wait to see of this part goes. Getting the TB off won't take much time if I decided to go back.)

I am expecting/hoping for pretty decent results. I have RB headers and some sort of high flow cat (I think, I bought it with the headers and whatever that "cat" is, and it is not stock..)
