my speakers don't work

A while ago, i took out my door speakers because they were blown, being too lazy to take out the stock wiring and the fact that i'm gonna replace everything, I left the wires, and put electrical tape around the ends, later on, i realized my dash speakers didn't work. I'm not sure why, I don't know if taking out the door speakers had anything to do with it. I might've had an open wire in one of my dash speakers, i thought that might be it. I tried the dash speakers in my rear speakers and they worked, so I know the speakers themselves work.

A couple of days ago, I was driving around and poof, my back speakers were out. Now the deck is running, but none of the speakers work. Any ideas as to what it might be?

everything is stock still and it's on an S5

did you tape each wire so that it could not touch the cars body as well as each other???

If you taped the wires together (so that the contacts could touch), you probably smoked the deck/amp

but if I smoked the deck/amp, wouldn't the deck not be working? and wouldn't it all go out at once?

Also, there is no amp in mine, it's an S5 GX....

i just put tape around the ends of the wires so that all the metal parts are covered, i don't see how it could have contacted any other metal.

I'm probably putting in my new deck tomorrow, just worried, i'm gonna smoke this up too

if the amp is built into the stereo then yes you can just blow the amp and the receiver will still function but it won put out sound, I have several radios that work fine but dont put out sound unless you use the pre-amp outputs.
