My New Treasure, Well Maybe!!

I found a GXL today. Woo Whoo. It's gold and says GXL on the side. Did the gold color come stock or did someone put the sticker back on? The engine is shot and the vehicle has 200000+ km on it. The interior is really nice and I need new seats. It has all the goodies like power windows, 15 inch cheese grater rims which are nice and shiny with new tires.
These cars have LSD right?

I have a simple base model with a strong engine and don't want to put this engine in there but want the parts off that car for mine. The major thing is the wheels, so how difficult is it to change the enitire axle and is it even possible?
Is it worth changing the self adjusting suspension?
I like the 3 spoke steering wheel too which I want. \

How about the power windows, can I just change the doors and hook up the switch in the middle or do I have to run new wires? Color doesn't matter if I'm gonna paint.

I looked under the car and has brand new stock mufflers which are
shiny like the day they were bought which I'd be willing to sell.

She says she will sell it for 600 CAD or about 380 US or she will keep it and fix it herself which she doesn't understand it has a blown engine.

600CAD, Worth it or not? This is rare for my part of Canada for GXL
What other goodies are easy to change over that I haven't talked about
Any imput would be appreciated!
Thanks

The gold is a stock color, they called in champagne. When I bought my GXL, it was this same color. However, I painted it black after so many people ran into it.

Depending on the year depends on what you should use from the car. For instance, in 89 they modified the intake to add some horsepower. That is probably still good, so if you do that, it's already worth the money. Another thing they changed were the rotors. They are a little lighter in the 89 and later models but if it has over 200000 miles on it, then those are probably no good.

In my opinion, it is not worth changing over to the self adjusting suspension. It probably doesn't work anymore anyway, and when it does, the difference is not that noticeable. Plus they're much harder to install than regular shocks like Kokiko.

Is it worth the money?
Yes.

So when changing the intake manifold, are there any extra vacumns I need to attach or make or any other mod to make it fit?
I ain't taking apart any engines and perfomring any rebuilds which I easilt could with 3 engine worth of parts and buying new seals and stuff like that.

I think I will stay with the suspension I have right now.

My main thing is whether it is possible transplantin axle's so I can have the 5 bolt configuration and those rims on my car

How about the power windows?

Ive heard it fairly easy to switch over to the 5lug rims. Either search or keep asking around. Search should have something.

Does that involve changing the hub or the eintire axle. I want the entire axle because I want the LSD

Ok... IF I was going to do this, I would swap the entire rear subframe... it's MUCH easier than trying to change the differential and halfshafts.

The 5-lug stuff will bolt right on. You get the benefit of better brakes as well as 5 lug wheels.

I am pretty sure the wiring in the chassis is there on your car for power windows and mirrors. Yes, you could just swap the doors if you wanted to, I've seen that done.

The 89+ intake requires a bit of work to make it fit. I don't remember all the details, but I DO remember that you need to grind a "bump" off the rear portion of the earlier motor to make it clear... and that you need to use the early throttle body, and you have to grind it a bit to make it fit as well. Some brackets and stuff will have to be modified, and you will need to figure out how to operate the VDI, since there is no provision for that on the early cars...

I would scrap the AAS. Even if I had a car that came with it, I would scrap it.

What is a VDI? What do u mean by scraping the AAS, what is it?

Good to hear about the windows and door, I just remembered that it had the alarm system, is that possible to transfer?
