My NA sounds turbo'd.....

yea this might sound kind of weird...

Everytime i take my car to around 6k rpms, it starts sounding like a turbo spooling....its kinda like a ball bearing noise...it only really happens through 1 and 2 gear....havent heard it in 3rd.......

i know its not turbo so thats out of the question......

what is it?

Lot's of room for speculation here. Could be a clutch or tranny bearing...tranny whine? Sounds to me like the ACV is not properly connected to the silencer. There is a hose running from the ACV to a cannister under the pass side headlamp assembly. Check to make sure that it's still hooked up properly.

Have had some friends say the same thing about my FC. It was just my cone air filter and pieces of my intake piping.

You got a MX-3 sideways? Nice... My MX-3 tended to have a similar whine around 5k(the sohc)...still have the BP in my garage that was about to be swapped into it.

I miss my 3...lost it to a car wreck(not my fault). Now all I have is the 7, and prolly soon a second FC ^_^

Could be a small vacuum leak maybe.

My Prelude does that and it's a bone stock H23 (non-VTEC)... I have a custom intake I made and it makes that pssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh blow-off valve sound when i take it between 4-6K rpms as well, especially when I shift.

I once had a tiny pin hole leak at the manifold and it sounded like a turbo spooling starting around 3000 rpm and kept getting louder

My alternator screams like a little bitch now and that is my turbo sound maker at the moment. No need to be an exhaust whistle now
