My idle gets crappy and interior lights dim when headlights turn on..!

What does that ALL mean?? My idle is ok, until I turn the headlights ON...then it starts to struggle. It doesn't do this when the car is COLD. When the car is fully warmed up and I turn on the headlights, the idle struggles. Also, I noticed while sitting at a traffic light, that my headlights dim down a bit IF I HIT THE BRAKES...I can see my dash lights dim down too. Any ideas what the SOURCE of this problem?

Can you spell "Alternator" (or is it "Alternator belt" ?)

I don't agree with the alternator. I say it's the BAC components. When you turn on accessories under load the BAC she kick on and raise your idle to compensate. Your problem is either: 1. Bad BAC 2. Bad BAC connector 3. *MOST LIKELY* fried transistor on the ECU.

Does your idle drop when you turn on the A/C also? If so, that's a sure sign of a BAC problem. Do a search on the forum for BAC fix. I've done it. It's pretty easy. Message me if you need some help.

Take your BAC off and clean it throughly with throttle body cleaner. Then spray it with WD-40. Then put it back togethere and use the adjustment screw on it to fine tune it.

I put a good used BAC valve on couple weeks ago, tested properly for the Resistance checks. I also got a new alternator belt and its on the car pretty tight. I will investigate this ECU problem a bit further, in the meantime any other things it could be?

Sounds like it could also be...

The diode in your alternator. But these other guys are probably right.

I would say alternator. I don't know about the accessories. But dimming of lights when you hit the brakes & when headlights are on sounds like alernator or battery problem. Maybe there is another problem for the idle. My idle is real high, but I get the dimming. I am going to fix that today.

I used to have that problem. It was so bad after adding an electric fan that the radio would turn off when I hit the brakes. Solution?

I put an FD alternator on. No more voltage issues!
