...if it really is in show-room condition... PLEASE don't swap it. If you wanan do that, go get a roller as stated above.

Anyways, I really would like to see pictures though, I mean how hard is it to take a picture nowadays as there are camera phones...cameras everywhere. Anyways congrats and just don't screw it over eh.

How was that being a jerk? I posted my OPINION about what you were talking about doing and I gave you an OPTION on a 350 swap. In no posting did I say anything like you are and idiot or anything of that matter. If you don't like some of us posting what we think then don't ask!

And truth be told most if not all will agree. Why buy a 7 if you wanna put a 350 in it? Remember kids some F bodies didn't come with 5.7 engines!

You were not being a jerk. This is just the typical juvenile reaction when a nobody gets busted on an internet forum. Hopefully he will create another user name and try being honest for a change, although these guys usually never get it and end up leaving the forum and selling the car. I still don't understand why these guys think they need to pretend to be rich, uber mechanics. However, I find it amusing that they don't realize that while 'teh internet' may offer some shielding of the facts, it still does not cover up their inexperience and poor grammar.

Some people dont like to hear the truth. It always kills me to see people sign up here for answers to their questions and get pissed cause they dont like the answer. WHY EVEN ASK? Take this guy for example. Doesnt want to get the turbo motor to get his easily obtainable horsepower number. Would much rather go through the trouble of cramming the 350 in it. WTF? I swear sometimes I dont understand peoples logic in things like this.

What can I say, other peoples children....

you have to realize that these cars are precious to us.
you go and find a "showroom condition" GXL for a fraction of the price we bought our POS's for, then you want to butcher it by putting in a V8.
BLASPHEMY!!!!SACRELIGOUS!!!!
to reach your hp goal on the 13B, your gonna have to port the **** out of it or,
if you wanna stay N/A AND ROTARY, buy a 20B
if your bent on putting a 350 in a FC, trade FC's with me.
its not in "showroom condition" but as you said, "money is no object".
you can get that baller flame paint job im sure you always wanted.

actually its the response that a person gives when they are being attacked for no reason. i didn't ask for your opinion i asked for ideas. but like all morons anyone that has a different opinion of yours is automatically wrong and therefore stupid. you are not the smartest person in the world, your opinion means less to nothing to me. if you have nothing useful to say shut up and let people who actually might have a constructive thought in there brains speak.

i just wanted to see what i could get out of it before a turbo was added then someone had to be an *** about not wanting one. i'm not familiar with rotarys so i don't know what they are capable of with out turbos. why not push it to the limit before a turbo system is installed?

So how about the ppl who actually gave you ideas??? You gave no one credit or rolled with those ideas...you just blew up on the ppl who were saying there opinions. Id say Pport it!!!!! If you really dont care about driving it on the street. But really before you do anything at all to it learn more about the rotary engines and prblems and how to fix them...WHO KNOWS YOU MAY LIKE THEM....hmmmm????

And that craigslist post was quite ammusing...it has photoshopped rims. and is completely fake...

Do what you want with the car its yours anyways. Now me forgetting that you might throw in a sbc in I will tell you that the 13b is a great engine to work with. But for the power you wanna reach you will need a TURBO engine or build one using what you have now. And anyone in this thread will understand were I am coming from. I payed 2500 for my beat down GXL that I had to dump tons of money into it to get it nice. Meaning body work, paint, interior work, engine repair, drive train issues had to be taken care off and on top of that a whole new brake system. And you get a 550 showroom FC! WTF. So if you really wanna do a swap with an LSx get a roller that not in the best shape and bring it to life.

Leave the nice ones to the purist and sell it. But to each his own.

GL with what you do.

One thing that you may want to consider (was mentioned earlier in the thread) is first going through the car and doing all the needed refreshing. Even if the car is in "showroom condition" it is still a 17-18 year old vehicle, and things will be just plain "worn out".

The suspension bushings are most likely old and tired, the DTSS certainly needs eliminating. Shocks and springs need to be looked at and probably replaced. How many miles on the car? You may even consider getting the injectors cleaned up.

These cars are not great stoplight racers, they were never meant to be. For all it's glory, the rotary engine is somewhat lacking in torque. The car was designed to be light (esp. compared to the current crop of sporty cars) and handle well. It has a reasonably designed independent suspension and very good brakes. It was built to carve corners rather than run in straight lines. Putting it back together with that in mind will give you a lot more reward (and appreciation) than trying to remake it into what it was never really meant to be.

In part, that is why you are getting the grief from the others on this list.

If you want to live your life an eighth of a mile at a time, that's fine by me. If you want to do justice to that V8 then I would recommend (in all seriousness) that you go find and old straight fox-body Ford with a good strong solid rear end and drop it into that. Sell the '7 for a profit to someone who will appreciate it for what it is and what it is capable of.

Good luck with it,

-b

a few things i've noticed so far is that the car has a completely custom exhaust on it already someone put some serious money in to the exhaust alone. and i'm going to need a new center console piece but i'm not too worried about that right this minute. it has a 3 inch gash in the back of it that i didn't notice when i bought it. And another thing, its sounds really really nice I think i'm starting to like this rotary engine stuff. extremely simple to work on.

Its extremely simple for anyone with any kind of mechanical knowledge. People make them out to be these mysterious things to work on yet their more simple than most fuel injected v8s when it comes down to it.

I am anxious to see pictures of this car as well. Mine cost me $600 and it is far from showroom quality, hell it didn't even run. I've heard that V8 cars are heavy and slow, but it could be just a rumor...
