Talking My First RX-7 - 91 Turbo

I'm going to be buying my first RX after years of admiring them and watching my friends pimp the sh*t. I'm looking at a 1991 Mazda RX7 Turbo. Wondering what the rated HP is, Torque and what I should look for before I buy it?

The car is fantastically clean inside and out, with no rust, no stains and no visible leaks. The engine has 62,500 on it, and is pretty clean.

Thx,

Newb

Congratulations!

202HP at 6,500
196TQ at 4,500

Not bad for a 12 year old car, eh?

Sounds like you have found a gem. If it is descently priced get it! Things to look for: First of get a compression test. Then check the turbo's shaftplay and see if there is alot of oil on the charge pipe. Check for the tranny grinding when going into any gears. These are just a couple of the big problems it could have. Also look for anything that is wrong and you can use it to talk down the price.

Is it stock? If not look closely at the mods, find out if he has reciepts, and once you find out what the car has report back here and we can give you adivice on what to look for. This will help you lower the price of the car. If the car is stock then its more basic, usually when buying a car if its really clean, no rust, and drives well it means the owner takes real good care of it and this is key. If the car drives beautifly, looks clean, has little to no rust then id say your gonna be paying some good money for it but i think its worth it

Don't wreck it and if you blow the engine, don't part the car out.

Other than that, follow the above advice and godspeed!

if it has good engine/turbo/tranny it's a good deal for $5000.
