My exhaust smells like BUTT!!!????

After using the search forum Im still looking for answers. It happened yesterday, pulled up to a light and smelled something like Sulfer, Rotten Eggs, ***, whatever. Its so powerful it almost made me freakin gag getting out of my car. I have an 88 T2 with RB downpipe, and a custom catback system. Is this just my cat clogged up? And can I fix it by not running the cat, dont care about passing emissions now, just anything besides my rump roast. Thanks Mike

Make sure no fluid is leaking and burning on the exhaust. Burning tranny fluid smells pretty damn bad.

This rotten egg smell is due to the accumulation of sulfur in your cat which under wide open throttle reacts with oxygen to create sulfurdioxide (rotten egg smell).
So it is somewhat normal and depends on the amount of sulfur (parts per million)in the gasoline you buy and how frquently you use wide open throttle.

Cool, so throwing a midpipe will replace the cat....what about full exhaust without a cat, reccomendations?
And its normal to happen, but will it stop, or is it going to keep happening as long as I have the cat. I thought it might have been bad gas?

This smell frequently happens in my car if I rev it hard in 2nd and 3rd just before parking it in the garage. I wouldn't blame it on bad gas. Blame it on the cat.

do you need to upgrade your fuel if you get a full RB exhaust? or do you just need an FCD?

say you have a s5 turbo, no emissions, and a full turbo back exhaust?....would i need to upgrade fuel?
