Is my engine going to start?

So I've had the car in the garage for awhile now. Going on 5 months. Still waiting for the transmission to get here. Anyhow, decided in the downtime to do a few things. Remove air pump, vac rac, ect. Got the 6ports unstuck and rigged up a way to activate them (thanks silverrotor for your plans). Anyhow, I only need to run new fuel lines and it could technicaly be ready to start. I still don't have a tranny yet, so I was planning on using the old flywheel, starter, and bellhousing (only) for the start/ignition system.

Is she going to start alright? I put some ATF fluid in the leading plug holes thinking I was going to get it started last week. I got distracted and haven't been able to get back to working on it. I ran all new vac lines and will have all new fuel lines.

Should I tune the engine before i get the tranny installed (im doing an auto-->man swap)? I know the tranny would introduce the actual load, and without it, the engine would be running no load, and will not have the tranny as rear support.

Hopefuly the seller will be shipping the driveline this week.

I am not sure that I personally would start that motor sans transmission. But thats just my humble opinion.

It should start. I had a similar problem with mine. I bought it from someone who had to leave the island, sooo it had been sitting for a while. I tried every unflooding technique I could find. Till someone said "test the fuel pump, they have a tendancy to go bad if not used for a while." The best way is to hook the battery streight to the pump. If you hear it working your good.

I eventually want to do a man-to-auto swap too, Let me know how it goes.

um, i reaaly wouldn't start it without a tranny.

One reason is if you have ever had a rough idle like my swap had, and no tranny to weight it down and hold it in place.... I would really hate to think of what could happen.

I'm almost certian that it would actually be possible under some circumstances (like one broken motor mount or something) that the engine could actually leap out or around the engine bay.

But try it at your own risk..
