My Door Wont Open... ;\

I dunno if its just me but my driver side door on both of my FC just stop workin. I cant open the door from the outside. I know the little bar deal came off but is there a fix for this? What do i need to repair. Also My driver side window wont go down but will go up. How do i confirm whether or not its the switch? How do i test the motor? Thnx

You can check the switch with a multi meter (the diagrams for testing it are in the FSM) and you can check the motor by applying 12V from the battery right to the motor connector.

You need to take the door panel off to get to the motor's connector but you can check the switch by popping it out of the arm rest.

This is going to sound REAL stupid but a Pentium 3 processor with all the pins ripped off works great for getting that switch out of the door arm rest without breaking it. (I've got one as a keychain... Don't ask.) If you use a screwdriver you're likely to take a chunk out of the plastic.

lol Pentium 3 not 4? :P Well the motor makes noise when its triggered up but not when triggered down. I ran a 12v source to the switch and got sparks. I Know the motor has 2 operations one to go up and one to go down. The motor only has 2 wires going into it one i assume it ground. How exactly do i make it go up and down? Im confused :\

Like most electric motors if you wire it one way it will go up, if you wire it the other way it will go down.

Don't wire 12v right into the switch you'll just create a short and might destroy the switch if it gets hot. Just check the switch operation with a multimeter or ohmmeter. I forgot where you can download the FSM with the wiring diagrams but you should be able to find it with a bit of searching.

The pentium 3 just happens to be just as wide as the switch...
