Is My Clutch Master Cylinder Shot?

For the most part, my clutch system works fine. But sometimes, it does not like to go into gear at all. I have started to notice this in the past few months. My first thought was air in the system, soI bled my slave. This didnt make a difference. Some days it shifts fine and others it acts like my clutch is engaged. I dont know if its the weather and me using too heavy of tanny fluid. When bleeding my clutch, I also noticed that my fluid looked like old nasty brake fluid, all grey and murky. Any suggestions would be great.

Keep bleeding until it's golden brown ... or whatever the color of the brake fluid you're using is...

Ive heard that the bad fluid color is a good indicator of a dying master cylinder. Is it normal for the fluid to get that nasty? Clutch hydrolics dont see as much heat as brake fluid so I cant really see how id go bad otherwise.

If it isn't leaking, you can probably rebuild it.

You can always take it apart, but if you do that you may as well rebuild it.
