I think my clutch just started slipping....it seems like the plate is slipping at 2k and 3k when torque is needed. It's like you can hear it make like a grinding type noise then it will engage. Could it be I just need fluid or is it going bad?

first check your lines to make sure there are no leaks. does it work better after you pump it a few times?

 

It works fine as far as engagement is concerned. it just starts to slip between 2-3k on the tach when applying torque. and It just started happening. The fluid is filled I havent changed the any of the tranny fluids.

Yea, disc worn to rivets, or pressure plate springs shot. Don't delay or may be needing a new flywheel.

Stock parts are fine for a stock or mildly modded car.

 

Mazdatrix has the stock clutch and PP, but wants ~$175 for them. You can get a stock clutch/pressure plate for around $110 on ebay, I always see them on there.

Just take it easy until you replace it, so you don't burn the flywheel.

Since you are making grinding noises it would be a good idea to have the flywheel turned as well.Or you could end up eating more clutches than it's worth.

 

considering clutches are wear items, using used parts is a waste of time IMO.

Would you take the brake pads off another FC just because you didnt want to go get new ones?

Unless you REALLY need to because of time or money constraints don't put used clutch parts in, it will mean you have to do the job twice, and it's not a fun job.

 

I have a $350.00-400.00 budget any recommendations now..... I guess I won't be getting my rims this month...DAMN

 

It all depends on the circumstances.
If you plan to keep it for the long haul, or are paying labor - yes.
If you are a broke DIY person, or plan to trade in a year (like me), then used parts are a good value
