Is my car auto or manual?
How can I tell if my car is auto or manual. It has no engine or tranny but how can I tell what it use to be? It has a clutch pedal that looks factory but then it had an EAT which I thought was the auto tranny computer.
Is there a way I can tell?

perhaps a conversion in process...
what make/model... some verts had cruise control boxs next to the ECU that people confuse with a EAT controller

AND, you can't find the VIN???

since he said
cant check through the vin sorry

YEA the guy who said "cant check the VIN sorry" wasnt the guy who asked the original question

My car is an 86 used to be auto I made it a stick and the cluster has none of those I never changed it and the guy who owned it before me never did either. So I dont think you can go by that.

The mystery of the prize.
it being 4 lug doesnt mean much, it could have been swapped. It sounds like the car has been torn apart in the past, maybe it was stripped for it's 5 lug suspension and the good car donated it's 4 lug after the 5 lug was swaped in?

Hmm really wierd, post that vin number!!!! Your car has many contradicting items. Is there anything that tells the gear ratio on the outside of the rear? if its a 4.10 then that really wouldn't help usd out but if it's got a 3.90 it most likely started as an auto, althou i do have a 3.90 in my 5 speed since it was all i could find at the time. take some pics for us of the EAT and clutch pedal, slave cylinder and of course VIN number. Also was an auto availible on 4 lugs? i could be wrong but i thought it was only availible in higher 5 lug models

can't you just look at the transmission mount @ the bottom of the car, iirc the auto and manuals have different mount points, so a conversion has something fabricated there.
