My '89 GTUs - New engine?

Hey there

I got an '89 GTUs and I need a rebuild. Unfortunately I don't really have the funds for a rebuild so I think I'm just gunna drop a new motor in there. I might buy a '90 GXL motor off this guy. He said his friend crashed his car and fucked up one of his control arms and the engine is fine. It's still in the car so I'm gunna go check it out and see how it starts up. He says its fine -- turns over every time, runs good. It's got 123k on it, no oil burning, no overheating, compression 105-105. He wants $350 for the shortblock. But I got to take it out myself or pay him another $100 to take it out for me.

Think it's a good deal? Just want some feedback

Thanks

no oil buring may be a bad thing instead of good, if theres really no oil buring it could mean that the omp on the motor is no longer functional.

Those compression numbers really mean nothing, there should be six numbers.

not with a psi gauge. if it were a rotary compression tester, they'd be single digit plus a decimal number. people use psi guages regularly since mazda testers are $900 and not everyone has access to one. sadly.
