My 1990 TII (and a few questions)

I bought my car about 3 years ago for $750.00 with a blown rear chamber. Broke an apex seal, and lunched the housing and rotor. I've built everything from weedwacker motors to diesels to jet engines and everything in between, so I was interested in building a rotary. I bought a used turbo housing and rotor and one chamber o-ring and re-used the remainder (at this point, I wish I would have replaced all of the orings in the motor, but the kit isn't cheap.) I recycled the side and corner seals, and ordered a set of new apex seals. I finally got the car running about a year ago, but had an oil leak in the oil cooler line, and had a bad seal in the clutch master cylinder, so I took a break from the project, and went in search for parts. At this point, I still didn't know what I had (if it was really going to run or not), and the cost for new parts was crazy. So I repaired the oil line and the clutch master cylinder, and took the car through emissions (Arizona) and amazingly it passed! I've been driving it pretty regularly for the last 3 weeks, and I find I'm having alot of fun with it. Put a stereo in it, found a grounding issue in the climate control circuit, now I have cold A/C, What else could a guy ask for.

So to the questions:

The seatbelt wormdrive on both sides doesn't work. Does anyone still have them working around this year?

Is it worth fixing?

What boost should I be seeing? My gauge goes from -20 mmHg to 45mmHg. When you stomp on the pedal at ~5000rpm, where should the needle go to?

Sitewise, I've seen others post images embedded in text, how? Or are they pulled from another URL?

Comments appreciated.

For the auto seatbelts, mazda has extended the warrenty on them to the life of the car. Contact a dealership and they should replace them for you.

Contact Mazda about your belts, there was a technical service bulletin reporting a recall on those belts, Mazda will fix them for free.

What boost are you hitting in PSI? Even us Canadians don't use metric for boost.

Thanks for the info. I'll check with my local dealer. I don't know what the boost is in PSI. How do you check it? Put a 'T' in the vacuum line to the boost gauge, and add a pressure gauge that I can see in the car? Or is there a better way?

buying an aftermarket boost gauge with the a pillar mount is a pretty inexpensive route.

Here's the link I was looking for regarding the seat belts, has some tips if the dealer doesn't want to do it for you as it is required that they do it. Don't take any flack, if they won't do it go up the chain or call Administrator for the nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration (phone number in link) and they will help you out getting it taken care of.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. I'm glad you're enjoying the car because that's what they are meant for.

Like everybody else already said, the dealer will fix for free.

The factory gauge probably isn't very accurate anymore if it ever was. Buy an aftermarket gauge and it will come with everything needed to connect it without much work. You didn't list any mods so from the factory it should read 8.3psi (around 43 on the factory gauge) at WOT. With an open exhaust an intake it will go up higher.

Create an account and upload all your images to Photobucket.com. After you upload there will be a link to the photo under it with "[img]" tags on each side, copy and paste that link to where ever you want to show it.
Thats the easy way to do it anyways. If the photo is copied from another site just add "" to the beggining and end of each link minus the quotation marks.
