Multi part question

okie my clutch fan is going out and its running all the time. even when the motor is cold... thats what a fellow FC mechanic and owner tould me.
So what could happen and the worst that could happen?

i didn't know that the motor wasn't mounted right, opps my bad. its a little higher than normal. What possible long term effects could there be ? I have all new mounts the mazda comp ones. in the engine bay on the tranny and in the rear end.

also he tould me the cooling intake the (elbow) to the water pump is turning brown. from its usual black. he said its going bad. what could happen and the worst that could happen? i know OVERHEATING IS BAD FOR A FC!!
but i never over heated the motor.

i need to know. cuz i took my smog pump out and let him barrow it, hes a cool local guy. and since the car is apart i might as well replace these things while Im puting back the smog pump.

Nothing really. Running the fan all the time will cause unnecessary noise, and suck a little power from the engine. However you should fix this just in case the clutch decides to fail the other way and not spin the fan...

How do you know it's higher? It would be almost impossible to do this without modifying the mounts.

Are you talking about the lower rad hose? They turn brown with age and from sitting. Just replace the hose.

The thermoclutch fan always spins, that's just how they work. That doesn't mean anything's wrong with it. If you're not having any temp control problems at low speed or when the car's stationary, then the fan is fine.

Rubber oxidises with age and can change colour like that. It might be the rubber has deteriorated all the way through and hose needs to be replaced, or it might just be on the surface. You'll need to remove the hose and inspect the inside of it to know. If there are no cracks on the outside surface and the inside of the hose is in good condition, a rub with abrasive bath cleaner and then some rubber conditioner will make it look like new. Of you could simply replace it. It's up to you.

The plastic necks are known to fail at about this age. If you're worried about it, replace it with a new one.
