Moving to Belgium, so I'm selling the Rex....
OK guys, it was fun while it lasted, but the job at Oracle pays dick, so I found another job within the EU in Bruxelles. I will be moving there at the end of this month, and will be there for at least one year (probably 2-3 years, but who knows ?).
The thing is that I have to sell the Rex, and figure out what to get while in Belgium. The Rex, I can return it to where I got it from, and just take cash for it
I figure I can get away with 10K or so euros, which is a nice round figure...
After taking a look at the used cars market in Belgium (which is notably the best market in Europe
), I think I will end up with a '89-'91 Porsche Carrera (2 or 4), which go for about 20K (19K-22K). I know that the 250HP engine is not an adrenaline pump, but still a Porsche is a Porsche
Anyone has any suggestions or opinions about this ?

Dont know too much about Belgium actually, and the few opinions I was able to get were mixed: some said its a dark, moody country with bad weather and nothing to do/very boring, and others said that it has a lot of nightlife, many *nice* bars/clubs
, and is definitely worth it....
I guess we'll see as soon as I arrive there....
As for taking the Rex with me, I almost know for a fact that there are no Rexes up there, so mine would stand out like a fly swimming in milk
However, there are some issues:
1) I have -almost- lost faith in its reliability, and dont know if it'll make it there, or stay running for long. Here in greece I have a couple very experienced rotary mechanics to deal with its problems. Up there ? Not much, I believe....
2) There are still some money to be paid for the loan that got me the Rex. I dont want to mess with this sort of thing being 3000km away. Returning the car to the shop will get me my money back, and not havae to worry about the loan anymore....
3) For the same amount (about 10K EUR) I can get a very decent '93-'95 BMW (318i or 320i), or if I add another 10K I can get a '91 Porsche 911
Cannt beat that. The same cars in Greece cost almost double that...
4) Although I will be getting paid much more money than now, I still think I should take it easy at first -as far as spending money is concerned- and having TII's mileage and maintanance costs is NOT the way to do this
I'll be getting around either by tube or bus, and when I have settled in, I'll go pickup a nice car
, and is definitely worth it....I guess we'll see as soon as I arrive there....

Hey, for those who are interested to get an idea about the cost of used cars in Europe (well, Belgium is the best market price-wise
). take a look at this site:

And believe me, a Z3 is the least I'm thinking about. More like in the lines of Porsche Carrera4....
