moving the alternator ground post
Does anyone know how to change the position from pointing nearly vertical, to nearly horizontal? I have a TII and the alternator from an NA, so the post interferes with my intercooler. I already took off the little plastic cover and the nut at the base of the ground post, and it still doesn't want to move. Do I have to take off the pulley, remove screws, and tear the alternator itself apart to get to it? Thanks in advance

Hello. The part you are refering to will come off, however it sometimes sticks. Just wiggle it a little bit until it comes off or take a small screwdriver and pry on the base from the backside between the alt. and the plastic piece. Just be very careful and do not use much pressure as you might break the plastic piece. Just take your time and and it will come off. After you remove it, you can it put back in the other position. It will not have any wires attached, however disconnect your battery as there is always the chance of it shorting out. If you need any pics of this procedure, email me and I will send them to you.
Hope this helps!

I got it! Thanks. I didn't want to beat the hell out of it before someone told me it was allowable. I broke an alternator last year by overtorquing the ground and cracking that plastic. Not cool. Ended up costing $400 between rebuilds that broke and a Mazda part. Thanks again.
