mounting amp to storage bins wall - screws and wiring?

Hey guys so I removed the stock stereo unit because it didn't work and have been driving around looking like I was robbed and without music.

Seeing as there is no room under the seats to put my amp, right now I'm just going to hook one up the speakers in the dash and doors and later on connect the other amp to two new 6.5"s in the rear when I got the cabbage for it. So I figured the wall of the bins would be best for me. What kind of screws should I use and what would be the cleanest way to run wire from those speakers to the amp?

If anyone else has mounted their amps there any feedback and advice would be great, thanks.

I mounted my two amps in that location. The bins are made of some composite plastic, so wood or sheet metal screws work fine. For wiring, the proper thing to do is to run power down one side, and speaker wires up the other, but I cheated some and run speaker wires down both sides (door jambs, by the way) and power down the center, up under the center console.

Don't the amps over heat when you do this? I always thought cooling the amp was the best way.

As long as they have space to breath they're fine and aren't closed in.

Oh where did you run the ground wire for the amp too?

My amp is mounted behind the passenger seat against the wall thing. It's mounted vertically. It tends to overheat though, but it's a kicker amp if that means anything. If I bump hard for like 5 minutes the protection will kick in and it will be BLAZING. These amps get hot as a stove man, they need AIR.

Yeah mine is just a cheap little 300W Pioneer. I had it basically in the same place in the FB but agains the metal body in the back. It was always in the sun and never had a problem.

I never bump TOO loud either so it won't be that big of a problem heh. Just need some nice clean balanced tunes to stop me from going nuts.

over the course of a weekend a friend and I did this about 2 years ago:

View the entire set here: http://media.th3interweb.com/Project%20RX-7/

I had 2 amps in the storage compartments, unfortunately i never took pictures of that part of the installation...

To sum it up, the system sounded absolutely incredible, i miss it dearly =/

Can't remember where I grounded the amps, but any chassis ground is fine.

Never had a problem with overheating. We're talking about mounting the amps on the outside of the storage bins, not on the inside. There should be plenty of airflow there.

I mounted a small (600W) amp for the rear speakers behind the back carpet where the spare tire is.... well I say mounted but I actually just shoved the amp between the spare tire and the took kit that comes with the car
