motor swap, now it wont start
just did a motor swap on an s4, motor is a used one that has good compression, ive got spark, and fuel, still wont start, one day it started, ran for a couple seconds and then shut off, did that a few times, now it wont start again, sputters every few revolutions like it wants to, and thats about it, tried starting it with the distributer in pretty much every posistion imaginable, still nothing, im out of ideas and patience, can someone please point me in a direction on this, i'd appreciate it

Severly flooded. Put the CAS back as it should be per the FSM. Then disable the fuel pump, either using a fuel cut switch or pulling its plug apart.
Spray starter fluid in the air filter for no more than two seconds. Then try to start it. It should start momentarily. Do that three or four times. Then reinstall the fuel pump plug and spray and start again.
I don't recommend pulling the EGI fuses because you lose SPARK to burn off the excess fuel already in the *chamber*.
With the front pulley mark opposite the fixed pin, the CAS internals should look similar to the attached jpg. The two *pointers* on the rotating shaft should be cutting across the corners of the black reluctors.
