Easiest way is to just swap blocks, and keep anything attached to the 86 engine and attach it to the block of the 88. Put front counterweight and flywheel from the 86 on to the 88. Loose the 88 flywheel, front and rear counterweight. See FSM in my sig. That way you avoid the fact that fuel injectors between 86-87.5 and 87.5-88's (some) are different (and so are the ECU's).

Besides what was mentioned about, the auto motor should also have a vacuum hose on the firewall side of the throttle body that runs down to the vaccuum modulator on the auto tranny. Manual motors won't have this. This is shown in the factor service manual. You'll have to cap the port on the throttle body if you install the engine to a manual tranny or you will be hunting down a vacuum leak causing idle problems.
Also, since the motor will no longer be rotating a torque converter full of fluid, you will probably need to adust the idle once you get it in and running.

cool .thanks every one for the help i just hope the motor is still there it is at a pull a part got 99 dollars for a long block oil looked good antifreeze looks good i will tell more when i pull the plugs. thanks again kelly also i cannot view any links it says i need to post at least 10 times to see the links i guess i could through 9 more eazy quick questions so i can see the links .
