Motor mounts questions
Long story short is I pulled the engine out of my car and one of the motor mounts broke (maybe both, I haven't really investigated). Anyways, I tried searching for this, but I couldn't quite find my answer. I found one thread that talked about the differences in the materials and such, like soild mounts, or poly ones, etc. but there was no talk about brands or anything like that.
Ultimately, I have 2 questions. First question is who makes the best mounts in your opinion? I guess that question is kind of dependent on the second question, which here it is.
So, I read that the stiffer the mounts, the more vibration you get in the car. That makes sense to me, like they say solid mounts are the best as far as performance is concerned, but it vibrate/shakes a lot. How intense is this shaking? People kept saying that that should only be a track application. I ride dirt bikes, and the one I ride shakes A LOT, am I going to be looking at something like that? Or something more like my truck when it's idling and it just rattles and vibrates but doesn't really affect anything besides maybe your drink spilling?
People said they come in a set for a reason, there was 3 things; Motor, trans, and something else. They said that if you made the motor mounts stiffer and not the other 2 then the stress would go more into those parts and stuff would start to break, is this true? I'm thinking either poly or solid mounts right now. Kind of leaning towards solid mounts, but I was hoping someone would translate the vibrations into something I could compare too, instead of just saying, "They vibrate A LOOOOTTT, you shouldn't use them in a weekend car".
Sorry for the somewhat long post, thanks for your help though.

solid mounts transfer quite a bit of vibration and noise, it's irritating for a street car IMO and i ride dirt bikes and have had cammed V8 chevys.
the only poly mounts i know of the for the FC don't use isolators and i have seen the through bolts snap. the stiffer mazdacomp racing mounts are what i prefer even though the poly mounts will last a bit longer.
the engine and transmission mounts work together but the reverse is true. you can run a solid diff mount without solid engine/tranny mounts. you cannot use a solid tranny mount with a flexible engine mount, you can use a rubber tranny mount with solid engine mounts.

Best mounts are made by mazda. You will need motor mounts, transmission crossmember and both side mounts and front differential mount. They have competition version of the differential mount which is good. Not sure about the others. Mazda is best for street.
