Wrong... The "Sport" was lighter than the base model...
The base came with a steel hood, while the Sport came with aluminum.
And the Sport's also had manual everything, no rear wiper, etc...

Since we're on the topic of models... What the hell is the GX? its a canada thing, I have the 87 GX and im not to sure what the deal with that was..
How does it differ from the states GXL model? In the faq it says luxury canadian model, but mine didn't even come with air conditioning or cruisecontrol, hardly luxury if you ask me.

If I were to pick a model, it would defenitly be the TII S5 GTUs. Fully stock, mint condition, with less than 30000 miles on it...

My ultimate FC would be a black S5 TII with a custom targa top that was glass
in the middle like a moonroof, but solid around the edges (when closed)...
Then it would have some Racing Hart C2's in gunmetal with a polished lip 17x8/17x9.5...
Then it would have the Renesis' answer to the 20B with a
big single turbo mated to an HKS 6-speed manual transmission!!!
And the list continues for DAYS and DAYS!!!!!!!!! /o\ /o\ /o\

yea the goddamn trueno. That car is SOOO overrated becuase of initial D, and becuase of initial D, its the only reason that its in that game along with gran turismo

People say its the BEST drift car, i ******* disagree, its the CHEAPEST drift car. Cheap and rear wheel drive, with a DOHC engine. The only reason the guy in the show drove that piece of **** was becuase thats all he had. It wasn't becuase it was the best drift car, it was becuase it was a cheap rear wheel drive car and he was a damn good driver.

ranting is done.

But yea I agree totally, the FC shoulda totally been in that game, get rid of the overrated trueno and show the game players a real car, the FC

87.5 Sport, hands down. One of the lightest, no Gee gaws and the fastest (in stock form for 0-60) non turbo.

Add a LSD to it and you have a very reliable daily driver that does not have all the weaknesses of the GTUs, and is faster. 200lbs lighter than a Turbo and only .6 seconds slower than a S4 Turbo (in the 0-60 and again in stock form).

Toss off that it is dirty cheap as well, and does not have the insurance company "Turbo" premimum.

My second choice would be the GT which is 87 Sport with Turbo engine and driveline. (yea-even manual mirrors) But sadly they only imported about a dozen of those.

Thanks. I had lots of help, though. I just acted as a sort of project manager and checkbook writer.

Almost everything is different in CA. When I moved there, my insurance company at the time cancelled my policy. They wouldn't even quote for CA, let alone write a policy.

With four kids in college, I decided I needed cash more than I needed a fabulous car, so I offered it for sale. No one was willing to pay a fair price, so I had to keep it and work two, full-time jobs.

http://www.cris.com/~Asam/final.html has some motor pics.

No auto seatbelts for me, even In black s5 TII trim.

I took a s4 GXL, stripped It's accessories In It's entirety (except the power mirrors, I'm not giving those up) and did a full s5 TII swap. The Engine was rebuilt and streetported with the help of Aaron Cake and the entire drivetrain was glassbeaded and painted. A standalone was added to complete the conversion. I have all the desireable s5 parts and so on.

So to answer the question of the most desirable FC would be mine - I wouldn't trade It for anyones.

stock cars i say a brave blue s5 TII but if i were making my own i'd say a turbo 86-87 sport/88 gtu. for fantasy id go with a s5 vert with a TII engine, gt35, fmic, etc with a sequential 6 speed tranny.

I would go for Topo's S5 Vert in Brooklyn NY. He has the FD setup with a big single turbo, Turbo II tranny/rear, and I've seen him drive to the track in New Jersey, put strip tires, and do low 10's. 10.26 best time. This car is so reliable he drives it to Florida from NY with no breakdowns. Wow what a car. Hopefully I'll get there with my Vert someday.
