More problems with the GTU

Allright, whole story.

History of the 90' GTU.

Bob and Perky ( friends of my mother, who live about 45 minutes away ) bought the RX-7 to tow behind their moble home. They had some problems with it, and replaced the ECU. That didn't solve the problem. They replaced the MAS, problem solved. ( Yes, I have the extra computer ) Well, they drove it around maybe 4 times a month. It ran like a champ. Then they sold their moble home in december, and parked the GTU.

Yesterday was the first time it had been cranked since. It idled kindof irratically. It wouldn't get any power past 3500RPM's, and wouldn't get any faster than 40MPH.

We racked our brains trying to figure out what was wrong with it, and we get a call saying "come back tomorrow, I found a rats nest in the intake"

So we go back today, with a car trailor ( just in case ) and try it again. It starts up, still has a funny idle. We drive it maybe 50 feet, and it runs out of gas. So after putting more gas in it.... spudder spudder DIE. Over and over again, it won't stay running at an idle. So we load it onto the trailor ( 50-foot dash onto it, only made it halfway up ) and it dies... not before throwing flames at my leg. Now it sits in my shop, as I wait for some suggestions from more experienced rotary mechanics.

I'm not long winded... I'm thorough!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!

Have you tried new gas? Maybe for how long that car had been sitting on and off, the gas went bad. Was the gas he added new from the pump, and the old gas completely gone? or Gas from some container laying around?

Drain and clean the tank if that is the case.

Try ATF, sounds like maybe you lost compression - engine got flooded and stripped the oil out of the engine.

When we first started the car, it made it about 50 feet and ran out of gas. After, we put 5 gallons of 89 octane pump gas in it...

My 1st thought was ATF, thinking I had lost compression... guess I was right

Thanks a lot guys, I'll keep everyone posted...
