Smile More New Guy Questions........

OK , i'm going blind reading all the old forum post.
i'm working on putting a cone filter on the intake, just gotta weld up the flange, making my own. when i get some more time i might make a box for it.
now to exhaust. i talked to a guy who has an 88 na like mine and after a day at the track (road course) he's changing the exhaust/intake. he said he was going to put a supertrap on it. any thoughts?
also is it possiable to do my own exhaust?
what do you recomend? for track only.....
what do i have to do if anything when i change the exhaust?
i see in other post about precat , cat, muffler....
what should i get rid of and replace?
i'm not a race tuner (no duh) but would enjoy being able to learn and do as much as i can myself.
thanks
robert

Ok for the most total HP you need to get a header. You could buy the racing beat one from www.racingbeat.com and you can get a presilencer or make a custom midpipe. Then you would either need to buy a catback for your car or buy mufflers(or 1 if going single). Then if you can do mandrel bends you can do it yourself, if not take it to a muffler shop and they can do it for you. Ok, with your NA you have 2 precats and one main larger cat behind it. Getting rid of these will add the most HP.

Well, you're track only (or you will be)

So RB header, to a custom mandrel bent exhaust is the best way IMHO. Forget about the cat, precat, manifold. All that is gone for an IT car.

Supertrapps require too few plates to really get the sound under control, and they kill power. Better off with a straight thru type muffler (Borla, Magna Flow, Dynomax come to mind).

Intake, 20 bucks for the HKS adapter from www.k2rd.com. Easier than fabbing one. Or you can buy my K&N kit off me.. My radiator is blocking installation of it.
