More Fuel Injector Questions
I have two sets of fuel injectors. One set is from a 1987 NA base model with a standard transmission and the other is from a 1988 NA with an automatic transmission.
The plastic on both sets are a brownish-orange color, but they are "keyed" differently so that I can't use the the 1987 wiring clips with the 1988 and vice-versa.
Can I cut the wiring clips from the 1987 wiring harness (the car was wrecked) and splice them onto the 1988 wiring harness and use the '87 injectors with the '88??
As I explained in the earlier thread, the Mazda resistance spec for S4 fuel injectors is 1.5 to 3.0 ohms. The four '88 injectors have a resistance of 12.8 ohms.
Thanks i advance for your help.

As already mentioned, the fuel injectors are keyed to prevent you from swapping them accidently.
Why not just use the original fuel injectors that were matched for the engine harness?
The flow rates should all be identical.

Sometimes my verbal skills are lacking.
The original fuel injectors that were matched for the engine harness are out of spec in terms of resistance as measured in ohms. The spec is 1.5 to 3.0 and they were 12.8
The other injectors are in spec.
Are the injectors interchangeble other than the "keying"?
The car floods and will only start about once out of every 50 tries with the out-of-spec injectors (the ones that are matched to the engine harness.
Thanks,
Walt

The "keys" on the four that measure 12.8 ohms (out of the 1988 NA automatic) are off-center.
The "keys" on the four that measure 2.3 ohms (out of the 1987 NA standard transmission) are centered.
Thanks,
Walt

It looks like I have my answer. The injectors out of the '88 are 460cc, high-impedence injectors and are not interchangeable with those from my '87.
Not the answer I was hoping for but it seems to be the correct answer.
Thanks,
Walt

correct. you can use them but you need resistors as previously mentioned. stick with the ones that fit with your harness.
