**** oh yeah LSD questions 88 GXL ugh

Well I was in the middle of swapping my Diffs out of my parts car for my Sport since the parts car is a GXL it has an LSD. But when I was removing the half shafts I turned it and the other side turned th other way. Does this mean I have an open diff or I have a worn out clutch LSD? It does take some extra effor than my Sport's shafts to turn with the open diff that I know about. Is there any way to make sure it IS indeed an LSD? I remember a specific Tq spec but it is fuzzy in my head. What is that spec where it is supposed to spin?

Either way it means you don;t want it... A lsd would turn both wheels the same direction

Im sure that it takes a little more than the spin of a hand to engage the clutchmechanism inside

the clutches may be worn out. Not cheap to repair either.

don't just try to get the wheels going.
You should make so one wheel will go easily, like on water, and have the other on dry pavement....see if both spin, if they do it works, it they don't it doesn't

I have an open-end differential, and 99% of the time both brake free at the same time.

Are your tires crappy? lol

Yeah, my '84 S model can break both wheels with ease and only ~101HP. However, that's because I have those skinny 13" factory tires on it still.

Well the LSD is fine. I made sure of that with some wheels and tires I didn't need anymore. I laid down a good set of strips. I dumped the clutch from 7200 It feels wierd though smooth.

Nope, about 85% tread on both. They are a pretty soft ruber, and im lucky if i can even brake them free.
